How does your school report
a course completion to CTEC and the IRS?
Immediately after determining that a student has scored 70% or higher on the final exam of each course component (federal tax law overview, federal tax law update, ethics, and California), the California Tax School connects to CTEC's database then reports the student's education electronically.
After continuing education is reported to CTEC, the California Tax School will also report or "upload" a student's education file to the IRS system. The IRS system takes up to 7 days to integrate the uploaded education data to the student's online PTIN account at www.IRS.gov/ptin.
