Is the $49 fee
the total cost for the tax course?
There are no other fees required for this continuing education program, although some students may choose to pay an extra $5.15 for a paper certificate delivered by the US Postal Service (all passing students who pay the $49 course fee will receive a digital certificate by email at no extra charge).
Aside from the transaction with the California Tax School, you should expect to conduct additional and separate transactions with three other organizations:
■ You will need to pay an insurance company for a tax preparer bond (about $25);
■ You will need to pay the IRS $19.75 to obtain or renew a Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN); and
■ You will also need to pay CTEC a $33 registration fee ($88 if you register between November 1 and January 15).
